The wild daffodils on the village green have seeded and withered, and even the few cowslip plants and the white violets are over and gone but instead there are plenty of low growing perennials in the grass indicating what an abundant flora is present .

On July 15th I recorded the following flowers, please do stop and look at them next time you are passing.

Yarrow, birds’ foot trefoil, hop trefoil, creeping cinquefoil (count the yellow petals and leaflets), red and white clover, selfheal, speedwell, convolvulus, ox-eye daisy, a small hawkweed spp., round-leaved cranesbill, weld or Dyer’s rocket (it produces a fast yellow dye used since early times by cloth makers), ragwort!
